2004 - spore prints

In 2004 Gaborone had a good late rainfall. There was an explosion of mushrooms of all kinds. They grew up outside Ann's studio and in the garden at her home. At the farm where her studio is located, there was a pocket of indigenous woodland where they appeared as if from nowhere in every shape and colour; collared earth stars, oysters mushrooms, bracket fungi, field mushrooms and toadstools. Ann began to collect their spore prints. After six weeks of frenzied work collecting and photographing the delicate, ephemeral prints she had a collection of weirdly beautiful images.
